Welcome to Sensory Hub
Empowering you and your child with simple, practical sensory strategies you can use instantly to create a calmer environment at home and help your child thrive!
The world of parenting can feel like a stressful and lonely place at the best of times, but throw into the mix a child whose behaviour is different, more challenging or uniquely placed, and that world can quickly become a daunting and conflicting place where you’re on constant high alert.
The Sensory Hub is a safe and warm community where you can get the support you need and deserve from the comfort of your own home. It’s about helping you find ways to make life easier for both you and your child.
I’ve worked with hundreds of parents just like you…
Parents who feel alone and lost, not knowing what to do or which way to turn.
Parents who find it hard to keep up with their child’s ever-changing needs.
Parents who feel like they’re on constant high alert because the potential for conflict could be just around the corner.
Whether you’ve spent months on NHS waiting lists, hoping to get answers and support, or a lifetime trawling the internet looking for simple solutions and guidance on how to manage things better - there’s something important you need to know…
The way you need to parent isn’t like everyone else.
That’s why I created the Sensory Hub membership for you.
I work with the PARENTS… not the child!
We work in a way that’s personalised to your journey and time constraints, that’s suited to your child and their way of meaning-making in life, and that gives you the feeling of control, knowing what you need to do to feel more empowered as a parent.
Because here’s the thing…
You’re either frustrated with how the system currently works - getting NHS support can be like a Postcode lottery in terms of what support is actually available to you…
And private help from people (like me) who are Occupational Therapists can be hugely expensive, costing you thousands and you’re still not getting the on-demand support you need…
Because… you are the lighthouse. You are the person your child goes to for support. You are their safe space. And when you’re unsure that you’re giving them the right support, then the pressure of that alone can feel awful.
Even if you do get support from the NHS or schools - they can only do so much… ultimately you have the responsibility of leading them as to what’s best for your child. But if you don’t know what that is, then you’re going to struggle and feel like the world’s against you.
I’m here to help you work out the best ways for you…
So, you can be the brightest lighthouse for your child by weaving personalised sensory plans into their day-to-day life. You won’t feel stuck or overwhelmed in between therapy sessions, or when the school is closed for holidays, because you’ll be equipped with tools, ways of coping and practical plans that you can use every single day.
We’ll start by breaking down the behaviours your child is presenting and exploring the different factors that might be contributing to the behaviours you are seeing. Doing this will help you understand the root cause and gain insight into providing appropriate support for your child’s needs.
We’ll then go through each of the senses individually to help you figure out which of the 8 sensory systems are impacting your child's behaviour, it’s crucial to understand how they perceive and interact with their environment. This will help you reduce stress (for both them and you) by creating more comfortable and supportive spaces for your child.
Together, we will identify the right pathways, plans and strategies to suit your child specifically. For each of the senses that you identify challenges with in step 2, you will discover new ideas and activities to help meet your child’s sensory needs. You’ll gain access to a variety of practical ideas that can promote regulation, improve attention and focus and enhance your child’s ability to engage meaningfully with their surroundings.
We will then bring everything together and create a personalised sensory plan for your child. You’ll have a structured framework for effectively addressing their needs and learn how you can weave sensory activities into your child’s day both at school and at home. This plan will promote consistency, predictability and regulation, providing a more enjoyable and fulfilling experience for both you and your child.
Even with your sensory plan in place, you might encounter specific challenges such as bedtime struggles, picky eating, aggressive behaviour or emotional meltdowns. To help you with this, you’ll receive personalised workshops offering you specific plans and techniques gaining practical solutions and insights to provide you with a smoother and more harmonious daily experience for you and your child.
Hey, I’m Vicky, a Children’s Occupational Therapist, here to support parents of children with sensory processing difficulties or who are overwhelmed with how to navigate their child’s behaviour.
My role as an occupational therapist is to focus on the day-to-day activities that children need to develop their independence skills.
After working with the NHS for nearly 2 decades with a range of various needs, I found there is a huge lack of knowledge around, and support for, children with sensory needs.
This is a huge frustration for me and so many families.
So I’m here to provide the answer. I’m here to provide a service that is affordable and accessible for all.
My focus is on upskilling, empowering and educating YOU, the parent. And giving you all the tools you need to support your child at home.
You don’t need to go down the traditional route…
A lot of people think therapy should be 1:1 with the child, but I know this is not the best way. Educating you as the parent will serve you so much better long term.
Think about it. You go and see a therapist for one hour a week (if you’re lucky!)... but what about the other 167 hours of the week… what do you do then?
If you’re ready to get clarity and find simple, practical solutions for your child’s needs, then it all starts here.
This is the beginning of a new way of parenting, a way that feels calmer, more in control and more confident.
Let’s start that journey together…
